Hermitage bridge in the "Venice of the North"

The Hermitage bridge was built across the Winter Canal on the banks of the Neva in 1766. It stands on the castle quay below the gallery which connects the Hermitage theatre with the Old Hermitage. This first granite bridge is one of 315 bridges in the centre of Petersburg which is laced with numerous canals.
