Puente da Alcantara in Toledo

The Moors constructed this bridge in 866 AD. They ruled the Iberian Peninsula for centuries and Arab culture made a lasting impression on Europe during this period. The Arabs introduced silk and paper from China. The fight against the Arab advance strengthened European identity. The process of recapturing Spain for Christianity was not concluded until the fall of Granada in 1492.
