Measuring 270 metres in length and 50 metres in height, this is one of the most monumental Roman arched aqueducts still standing today and one of the largest stone bridges constructed by the Romans. The military commander Agrippa had it built around 19 AD to transport water in the 40-kilometre channel across the rocky valley of the Gardon. Agrippa was charged with constructing the road network in Gaul.
