Europe in the EU

The caricaturist Walter Hanel depicts Zeus not in the guise of a proud bull but as a stupid, bureaucratic donkey. On his back sits a disconsolate Europa. Cartoonists frequently use the figure of Europa from Greek mythology to represent present-day Europe, the European Union. The irony is often aimed at the administration of the EU Commission.
