Alongside Christianity, Islam - which means "devotion to God's will" in translation from the Arabic - is the most widespread doctrine of faith in Europe. Its teachings, which go back to Mohammed, the founder of the religion, have been disseminated since the 7th century AD. About 8 million Moslems currently live in Europe.
