In 1993, a Disney leisure park was also opened in Europe and it now attracts 11 million visitors a year. Euro Disney is situated 32 kms north of Paris. The site in the heart of Europe, measuring 1,943 hectares, consists of five thematically structured countries designed to lure visitors into a fantasy world. Walt Disney's figures have thus finally conquered Europe, whose role as a leading cultural force in the world has been assumed by the United States in many respects.
