The spreading of Christianity

As the nations of Europe assumed power throughout the world, they also spread Christianity. Missionaries set out to convert people to their belief. Frequently, the missionary activity was linked with social services such as medical care or school tuition. Religious orders established centres to train monks and nuns for their tasks overseas. Many missionaries paid for their evangelising with their lives.
