Lost Places are abandoned sites where traces of their past are still visible. Who might have lived, worked or celebrated here?
The adventure of reaching these places fascinates an international scene. Its members interact with history and traces of the past in a new way.
Sina Falker, Andre Joosse und Benjamin Seyfang are part of the scene. You can now find a selection of their photographs in the exhibition „Abandoned, Decayed, Forgotten. Lost Places in Germany“ in the U-Bahn-Gallery at Haus der Geschichte.
Sina Falker is a travel photographer who offers picture tours to lost places in the ruhr area. Perfect lighting and the geometry of abandoned buildings are important for her works.
The Dutch photographer Andre Joosse starts visiting lost places twenty years ago. His focus lies on the former German Democratic Republic and abandonend military sites. Joosse is interested in the history of the lost places he visited.
Benjamin Seyfang is not afraid of difficult routes of access. He often travels with other explorers and takes pictures of lost places that are hard to reach. That's why a pool float ist part of Seyfang's equipment we are displaing in our exhibition.
What makes our underground gallery so special is not just the unique setting it provides for the exhibition. The gallery is also open 24 hours a day, every day of the week. You are welcome to make the most of this opportunity!
